These Chain Restaurants Are in Expansion Mode

Despite headwinds from tariffs, a struggling economy, and changing consumer preferences, some chain restaurants have found the recipe for success and are expanding greatly in 2025.

Moxies Announces 7 New Openings

Moxies — the premium casual restaurant brand that started in Canada — is expanding into some of North America’s leading and emerging food and drink markets.

On the heels of announcing their upcoming arrival in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, Moxies opens this November in Washington, D.C., with a flagship downtown location in the Golden Triangle near Dupont Circle.

Building on that momentum, deals are signed and space secured for two Austin, Texas restaurants slated for summer 2026 and early 2027, giving the Lone Star State six Moxies locations.

In 2026, Nashville welcomes Tennessee’s first Moxies. And in Florida, West Palm Beach (early 2026) Coral Gables, and Orlando (2027) will bring the state to five locations, with agreements already in place.

“We’re thrilled to expand our footprint in the United States and in high-energy markets known for livability, travel, and dining culture,” said Joanne Forrester, president and chief operating officer of Moxies. “Each new opening is an opportunity to share our signature hospitality and globally inspired dishes and cocktails with vibrant communities that we know will embrace them—communities that are also home to countless fans who have enjoyed Moxies in other markets.”

Bobby's Burgers by Bobby Flay Goes to Canada

While Moxies expands out of Canada, Bobby's Burgers is expanding into Canada. The brand signed a multi-year area development agreement with Falcon Capital Group to bring 65 locations to Canada, marking its first international expansion. The deal kicks off with a flagship location in Toronto.

The Canadian expansion will be led by franchise veteran Jim Gormley and operations executive Audra Wosik, who bring decades of expertise in building and operating successful restaurant concepts.

“We’re delighted to introduce Bobby’s Burgers by Bobby Flay to Canada," said Gormley. "The quality and flavor of Bobby’s menu are unmatched, and we’re excited to bring this exceptional premium burger experience to Canadian consumers while also providing this unique franchise opportunity to Canadian entrepreneurs. We share Bobby Flay’s commitment to culinary excellence and operational support."

First Watch Restaurant Group, Inc., the leading daytime restaurant known for its chef-driven, made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, opened a new location in North Las Vegas this month. It is the brand's first Nevada location.

“We’re excited to become part of such a great community in North Las Vegas and share our fresh approach to breakfast, brunch and lunch,” said Mike Lee, regional vice Ppesident of First Watch. “We’re grateful for the community’s warm welcome and look forward to serving as a new go-to gathering place for neighbors and friends.”

In Q2 of this year alone, First Watch opened 17 system-wide restaurants in 8 states, resulting in a total of 600 system-wide restaurants (531 company-owned and 69 franchise-owned) across 31 states.

Party Fowl

Party Fowl, the Nashville hot chicken concept known for fresh, fiery chicken, boozy slushies and undeniable energy, is setting its sights on rapid growth under the stewardship of R&R Brands. The chain has multiple new locations planned throughout the remainder of the year, with its newest restaurant set to debut in East Nashville in late September. The new location will deliver the full Party Fowl experience while reinforcing the brand’s presence in Nashville.

As part of its expansion strategy, the brand has signed a lease in Ruston, Louisiana, and is finalizing another near Vanderbilt University, with both locations expected to advance in the coming months. Location scouting is continuing across the greater Nashville area and in key Southeastern Conference markets.

“Party Fowl’s next phase of growth is all about staying true to who we are — bold flavors, Southern roots and a personality that knows how to have a good time,” said Scott Taylor, CEO of R&R Brands. “From high-traffic neighborhoods to college towns and travel hubs, we’re creating spots where people can enjoy hot chicken, sip boozy slushies and soak up that Party Fowl energy. Every restaurant should feel like the ultimate hangout — fun, flavorful and just a little wild, in all the best ways.”

The expansion plan includes both full-build restaurants and compact, bar-forward formats suited to high-traffic neighborhoods, college towns and travel hubs. Each format emphasizes bar-first energy, with louder drinks, looser vibes and endless opportunities for daytime socializing.
