Drink Recipes: World Cup Cocktails

Forget football season, it’s fútbol season. Get your guests into the World Cup spirit with these spirited cocktails and reap the benefit of this international game.

Blue Under Dog MartiniUSA Blue ‘Under’ Dog Martini

1 ½ ounces Blue Ice American Vodka
2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
Dash of Falernum
 
Shake ingredients with cubed ice and strain into a Martini glass rimmed with kosher salt. Add a squeeze of lime.


Viva Mexico cocktailViva Mexico!

2 ounce Oro Azul Blanco Tequila
½ ounce orange liqueur
½ ounce agave nectar
Juice from two squeezed limes
 
Moisten rim of Martini glass with lime wedge and dip into salt. Shake ingredients with crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain in a Martini glass over ice cubes. Garnish with a lime wedge.

1 ½ ounces Gabriel Boudier Saffron Infused Gin
4 ounces tonic water
Orange wedge

Build the gin and tonic water over ice in a Collins glass. Stir well. Garnish with an orange wedge.


Sweet Victory CocktailPortugal’s Sweet Victory

3 ounces Dow’s Trademark Reserve Port
1 ounce Germain-Robin Fine Brandy
½ ounce Triple Sec
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp. sugar
1 slice lemon

Shake all ingredients (except Port) with ice and strain into a Collins glass over ice cubes. Top with port, add the slice of lemon and serve.


Brazil: The Ultimate CaipirinhaThe Ultimate Caipirinha

8 ounces Cabana Cachaça
8 tsp. superfine sugar OR 4 ounces of simple syrup
5 limes quartered

Muddle the quartered limes in the bottom of a pitcher. Add all other ingredients and plenty of ice. Stir about 30 times.


Italy: Tuscan Sangria

Tuscan SangriaOne 750-milliliter bottle Tuscan red wine
24 ounces fresh orange juice
6 ounces Tuaca (a vanilla- and citrus-flavored liqueur)
3 ounces Punt e Mes (a bittersweet Italian vermouth)
4 ounces fresh lime juice
4 ounces limoncello
¼ cup sugar

In a pitcher, combine the red wine, orange juice, Tuaca, Punt e Mes, lime juice, limoncello and sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar. To serve, fill wine glasses halfway with ice. Add the sangria and garnish each glass with an orange slice and a cinnamon stick.
