Stephanie’s on Newbury is an upscale but comfortable Boston hangout, and this summer bartenders are looking to give their clientele less — as in fewer calories — thanks to a promotion with brand sponsorship from Svedka Vodka.
To satisfy the numerous health- and body-conscious men and women who frequent Stephanie’s on Newbury, General Manager Mike Letterman instituted a series of low-calorie cocktails, each featuring Svedka, behind his bar. But it’s not just the health fanatics ordering the cocktails. Patrons enjoy them with a heavier meal to balance things out, making these skinny cocktails a great seller for a wide demographic of diners.
“We are known for our comfort food, so these are for guests who perhaps want a lighter drink to balance out their dining experience, or for those who would rather spend calories on the meal than the drink, but still want something tasty and refreshing that hits the spot,” Letterman says.
The low-cal cocktails first hit the menu in April with a menu description stating the calorie count of each drink. Letterman intends to keep them until cooler weather hits in October. Among the top sellers: Miracle Bot, a mix of Svedka, liquefied honey and fresh lime juice, and Fem Bot, with Svedka, lemon juice and naturally sweetened agave nectar.
