Lucid Absinthe Announces National Mixology Competition

lucid absinthe superieureLucid Absinthe Supérieure, the first authentic Absinthe brand to be legally sold after the 95-year ban, launched a national mixology competition presented by Bartender Magazine.

Beginning today and running until February 9, 2015, mixologists, cocktail enthusiasts and consumers will be able to submit an original recipe using Lucid Absinthe. Five ‘winning’ cocktails – selected by a judging panel – will  be featured in the 2015 Lucid Cocktail Guide, each will receive a cash prize from Bartender magazine and be included in a featured article in that publication’s April issue.

“Almost as long as there have been cocktails, classic recipes have included Absinthe,” said Ted Breaux, Master Distiller. “After the repeal in 2007, interest in authentic Absinthes like Lucid has skyrocketed and we’re excited to see what our fans create.”

Recipes can be submitted via a tab on the brand’s Facebook page or directly by email at  lucidmixologycontest@drinklucid.com.  Entries will be judged based on (1) taste, (2) creativity, (3) originality, (4) presentation, (5) and on-premise practicality. Complete contest rules are available here.

“We know there are a lot of mixology competitions out there,” said Jason Dyke, Senior Director of Marketing, Lucid Absinthe. “While we are thrilled to encourage wild creativity, on-premise practicality is an important aspect of our competition. Rare infusions and unique bitters are exceptional elements of mixology, but there are enough one-hit wonders on the radio, and we want these cocktails to be widely shared and enjoyed at your neighborhood bar.”
