Broadway Theatre Studio is proud to present The Imbible: A Spirited History of Drinking as part of the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC.
The drinks are free as you join world-renowned mixologist and raconteur Anthony Caporale for a boozy romp through the history of spirits and cocktails!
Following in the footsteps of hit comedy-edutainment shows like Assume the Position with Mr. Wuhl and Colin Quinn’s Long Story Short, The Imbible sweeps audiences along a 10,000-year journey through history and across the globe accompanied by craft cocktails and the vocal stylings of The Backwaiters acapella group!
Sit back and enjoy the music and drinks while Anthony holds forth on the history and science behind alcoholic beverages, traces their economic and political impact on our cultural development, conducts live demonstrations of brewing beer and distilling spirits, guides the audience through cocktail tastings, and – like any good bartender – keeps his guests laughing throughout the night! Combining Anthony’s encyclopedic knowledge of beverage history and decades of bartending experience with his legendary skills as a storyteller and entertainer, The Imbible treats audiences to a completely original and thoroughly enjoyable evening of theatre utterly unlike anything they’ve ever experienced!
This show features playwright Anthony Caporale as The Bartender, joined by Ruthellen Cheney, Ariel Estrada, and Nicole DiMattei, who also directs the show. Anthony is perhaps best known as the Producer and Host of Art of the Drink TV, the first cocktail web show frequently cited by many of today’s leading bartenders as one of the harbingers of the craft cocktail movement. He is also a favorite guest on many TV and radio programs including The Dr. Oz Show, The Better Show, and FOX Money. In 2008, Anthony was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steven L. Beshear for his work promoting and educating consumers about Bourbon, and he currently serves as the Director of Beverage Studies at New York’s award-winning Institute of Culinary Education.
