Celebrate Repeal Day Accordingly!

celebrate Repeal Day!

Today is the day which all bar patrons and bar owners should rejoice…it’s Repeal Day!

The turn of the twentieth century was a gloomy time in American history.  It was thought that alcohol was the cause of many social illnesses and was destructive towards society. Congress passed the Eighteenth Amendment, outlawing alcohol and allegedly putting a stop to mental illness, drunkenness, crime, etc.

In an ironic turn of events, Prohibition actually upped crime due to American’s thirst for alcohol; they began finding alternate, illegal production and distribution. Repeal organizations increased over the next 13 years and finally on December 5th, 1933, Utah, the final state needed for a three quarters vote, ratified the Twenty-first Amendment to repeal Prohibition. By 1966, no American states had any laws banning alcohol.

Celebrate Repeal Day accordingly, because without this historical day, your main beverage sales would be on root beer floats. What will you be serving up at your bar in celebration of this glorious day?
