Host a Spooktacular Promotion

Halloween is one of the biggest party holidays of the year and if a venue is not prepared with spooktacular promotions they’ll miss out on a significant amount of revenue.

Kristen Porter, founder of Dyke Night Productions, has given the LBT community in Boston, MA a continuous glimmer of excitement with her Dyke Night parties. And her annual sold out Raven Halloween Costume Ball, going on year 16, will be hosted at Bella Luna Restaurant & Milky Way Lounge.

Dyke Night is the only Boston company that produces events for LBT women in addition to giving back to the community. Money raised through Dyke Night events is donated to nonprofits, with a priority towards small organizations that lack paid development staff, which is appealing to party-goers as well as hosting venues.

This Halloween, the bash is extremely well thought out with $1,000 in prizes for different costume categories including Best Couple/Group Costume, Best Fictional Character and Best DIY/Creative Costume. There will also be free tarot card readings, which Porter tells us is extremely popular amongst guests.

Costume contests on Halloween, a no brainer, yet a brilliant revenue driver. Be sure to take advantage of the creativity of your guests by hosting a promotion revolving around their costumes! Also, themed attractions such as terror cards, palm readings, bobbing for apples or any Halloween-related activities are all things to think about when planning promotions.

Milky Way Lounge owner, Carol Downs, explains that this party will attract a predominantly lesbian crowd across several different age generations so it diversifies the clientele a bit, which she says is refreshing.

“Dyke Night events are among our most popular events here at Milky Way Lounge. The Halloween party is very well promoted through the internet and across social media increasing awareness and attendance,” says Downs. “Revenue goes up in all categories during promotions such as these, particularly bar sales.”

Downs goes on to explain that the Halloween Ball is very well thought out, as are all of Porter’s promotions. There are always fun themes encouraging people to dress a certain way or to wear a costume. Milky Way Lounge often lines up sponsors so they can offer cocktails to match the event theme. In addition, the staff also dresses up for the themed parties, including Halloween, which is a hit with guests.

Halloween is an epic party holiday and one of the most exciting for guests so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity. Think about contests, activities and themed cocktails you can tie into your promotions for Halloweekend!
