Think of the easiest dish you could possibly make in your kitchen that is extremely low in cost. Did grilled cheese come to mind? Today is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day and there is no better way to make a profit on Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day than to serve some up at your bar.
If you’ve forgotten the ingredients to the grilled cheese, I have them provided for you here: cheese and bread. Now everyone likes the good old fashioned grilled cheese that they used to make in their dorm rooms, but how about giving them something they’ll not just like, but love. Spice things up a bit by giving your customers something extra.
Add in a few enhancing ingredients to your grilled cheese sandwiches that will get your bar buzzing. Here are a few different types of grilled cheese sandwiches, that just so happen to be a few of my favorites.
- Nacho Grilled Cheese – All you have to do is melt cheese on two slices of bread, add some crunched up tortilla chips and toss on some jalapenos. Bring the slices together and you’ve got yourself a specialty nacho grilled cheese sandwich.
- Blue Cheese and Onion – Spread some blue cheese on your bread, add cheese and add some caramelized onions and BOOM, you have an original spin on an American classic.
- Hot Sauce Macaroni Grilled Cheese – This is probably my all-time favorite. I prefer to use potato bread with this particular type of grilled cheese, but it is the customer’s preference. After melting the cheese to the bread, add a scoop of warm macaroni and then drizzle (or if you’re like me drench) with hot sauce. If you want to take your dish to the next level add a little pulled pork into the mix and you have a sandwich that is to die for.
Give your customers some options; add some variety to your menu and not just on National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. These recipes are a sure fire way to put some money in your register. If you’re in a crunch for time and don’t have the appropriate ingredients for some of these sandwiches, remember, there’s always bacon; an easy way to spice up any sandwich and hey, people love bacon! Happy Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!
