Buffalo Trace Distilleryas Master Distiller Emeritus Elmer T. Lee turns 90

FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY— Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Master Distiller Emeritus, Elmer T. Lee, recently celebrated his 90th birthday in the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse at Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Festivities started in the afternoon with distillery employees joining Elmer for cake and refreshments. The employees signed a special barrel head decorated with Elmer’s image and signature. Later that evening, Elmer was joined by friends, family and other industry legends such as Master Distillers Jimmy Russell of Wild Turkey, Parker and Craig Beam of Heaven Hill,  Jim Rutledge of  Four Roses, Greg Davis of Tom Moore and Kevin Smith of Maker’s Mark.

Buffalo Trace paid tribute to Elmer by unveiling a commemorative bottling of Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon. Elmer is one of only three living master distillers with a bourbon named after him. Elmer personally selected the ten barrels that went into this very limited release.

“It was wonderful to see so many of Elmer’s family, friends and peers gathered to celebrate this notable birthday,” said Mark Brown, president of Buffalo Trace Distillery. “He is a bourbon legend and we were thrilled to share in his special day.”
