The search for the Nightclub & Bar 2010 Top 100 is underway — visit www.nightclub.com to take the survey and see if your venue ranks among them. For the second year, Nightclub & Bar is partnering with hospitality market research firm Technomic to develop the industry’s only list of the nation’s top nightclubs, bars and lounges based on venue revenue. Absolut is our exclusive sponsor.
Why is this important? Well, for one, it’s long overdue. Before we partnered with Technomic to develop the 2009 listing, the NCB Top 100 was editor’s choice. While that allows NCB editors to tip our hats to our favorites, we wanted a listing that would generate greater credibility for those on it, and in doing so, for the industry as a whole.
Second, a revenue-based list speaks to the sheer size and strength of the nightclub, bar and lounge business — the 2009 Top 100 venues account for approximately $1.1 billion in sales.
Finally, an annual revenue-based ranking confirms which nightclubs, bars and lounges have staying power. Those making the 2010 Top 100 list will be celebrated in the magazine, online and at the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas (March 8 – 10, 2010).
With all this hoopla about the Top 100, I’ll undoubtedly hear from smaller venue opeators, who I believe are among the most nimble and innovative in this business. That’s why the Nightclub & Bar Awards feature categories to spotlight the best small venues; I’m anxiously awaiting the results, coming soon.
Nightclub & Bar serves the mega-club and the corner bar, and every place in between where great drinks are served, so we’re always looking to recognize all those who achieve The Best in Bar Management. Good luck!
