Chain Beverage Buzz: March 8, 2010

Two French-inspired cocktails are among the offerings in “Le Bistro d’hÔtel” food and beverage program recently launched at more than 30 full-service Interstate Hotels & Resorts properties. The Parisian Spritzer is made with St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur and Brancott Sauvignon Blanc, and the Side Car showcases Remy Martin V.S.O.P Cognac and Cointreau Orange Liqueur. The menu is available through the end of June 2010.



Tom Marx has been appointed Vice President, On-Premise at Anheuser-Busch. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Wholesaler Sales in the Southeast region for the brewer.

T.G.I. Friday’s will feature two cocktails on St. Patrick’s Day. The Irish ‘Rita puts an Irish twist on the classic Margarita by combining Jameson Irish Whiskey, DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker, Midori Melon Liqueur, fresh lime juice and Friday's own Margarita mix, while the St. Paddy's Peach marries Jameson and peach puree. The drinks are part of a St. Patrick’s Day party celebration that includes green beer, beads and buttons.

The New York City Health Department is considering adding taxes on alcohol in an attempt to combat underage drinking, reduce alcohol abuse and decrease costs to the city and the health care system. This announcement comes in the wake of a beer and wine tax increase imposed last year that was intended to balance the state budget.

Stephen Larson will replace Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division Administrator Lynn Walding, who has served since 2000. Larson was most recently Deputy Treasurer in the Office of Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald.
