Have you joined the Museum of the American Cocktail? If not, now’s the time. The museum, run on a shoestring budget, is basically an all-volunteer organization “completely dependent on funds from our sponsor brands, members, and gift shop sales to continue operating the Museum,” writes our friend Jill DeGroff. Upcoming events include the regular mixology series in New Orleans (by Chris McMillian) and Washington, D.C. (with Phil Greene and Derek Brown). Guest presenters coming up include Misty Kalkofen, Jim Meehan, David Wondrich, Tony Abou-Ganim and Dale DeGroff. In any case, if you make your living selling drinks, this is one project that should be close to your hearts. Join here.
San Francisco’s Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, among other things the organizer of SF Cocktail Week, in early November spotlighted six of The City’s top female bartenders (Christina Cabrera of 24 Lusk, Rachel Ford of Rickhouse, Monika Lee of The Planet Cafe Organic, Kate Bolton of Michael Mina, Lara Guerra of Angel's Share and Brigitte Gonzalez of Matrix Filmore). The six women created cocktails using (ri)1 whiskey, created to pair with creations of chef Ola Fenderet of Oola Restaurant.
