The deadline to enter the second Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards is April 30; a reduced entry fee is available for those submitting by March 12 ($275 rather than $325).
This spirits competition differs from others by using a panel of 100 consumers rather than expert judges in an attempt to rid the competition of brand bias or marketing pressure, says Ali Samsami, event coordinator.
Platinum, gold, silver and bronze awards are given. Platinum winners from last year’s inaugural competition included Sauza Tres Generaciones Anejo Tequila, Muchote Reposado, 901 Silver Tequila, Finlanda Grapefruit Vodka, IS Vodka, Horne Spiced Rum, TY KU Soju, Lillet Blanc, Woodford Reserve Bourbon and (ri)1 Whiskey, among others.
