ICRAVE Unveils "Chandelier Room" -- at New W Hoboken Hotel, Offering the Best Views of NYC

New York, March 19, 2009 – Manhattan-based design firm ICRAVE is eager to reveal its designs of Chandelier Room, the destination lounge inside New Jersey’s W Hoboken Hotel, opening Thursday, April 23. From its oversized chandelier structure to artfully framed views of Manhattan’s skyline, Chandelier Room – managed by the nightlife impresarios from EMM Group – will be the anchor and source of energy for the iconic W Hoboken and undoubtedly a mainstay for nightlife, west of the Hudson.

Known for its stand-out sculptural moves, ICRAVE appropriately designed a super-sized chandelier fixture that is scaled to extraordinary proportions and captures the impressive height of the room. The piece features custom chairs that cascade down from the ceiling, making it an inhabitable sculpture. These crystal drop chairs act as an unconventional, yet intimate escape for couples and are the main focus of this whimsical space. ICRAVE recruited Skyline Design, a specialty fabricator out of Chicago, to produce this glamorous fixture.

The colors and textures of the space are rich and inviting, with a chocolate brown and merlot color palette. Copper tiles, glazed cognac leathers, chocolate velvet upholstery and custom-designed floor treatments set the scene in the lounge’s interiors. To give the space a distinct edge and energy, ICRAVE cut heady tortoise tones with absinthe-colored accents and clad the room’s main bar in honed marble that will take on a satin patina as it ages.

Blessed with expansive terraces, Chandelier Room boasts an ideal outdoor space which ICRAVE designed to withstand the elements – industrial edges and treatments encourage year-round use. Key design features of the outdoor area include custom-made furniture and a bungee cord wall, evoking a nautical theme. New Yorkers, along with their New Jersey counterparts, will appreciate the terrace’s sexy, cool vibes all year long.

Since Chandelier Room offers stunning river views, ICRAVE purposefully designed the space to conceal and reveal the views as part of the overall architecture: sometimes framed as art on a wall, sometimes naturally woven in. The Manhattan skyline across the water becomes part of the arrangement with the bottles in the bar, or sometimes to read as captured light and framed into a candle box on the terrace.

“We are thrilled – and honored – to yet again be working with two very well-established names in the hospitality and nightlife industries: W Hotels and EMM Group,” said Lionel Ohayon, ICRAVE founder and partner. “Repeat business from W Hotels, with W Atlanta Midtown hotel and backstage fashion lounges at NYC’s fashion week, as well as EMM, with Tenjune and the upcoming Abe & Arthur’s and Simyone restaurant and nightclub, respectively, in the former Lotus space, further solidifies ICRAVE’s strong client loyalty and proves that we produce successful projects, time and again.”

The Chandelier Room measures 2,200 square feet inside and 1,800 outside and officially welcome patrons starting April 23, when the hotel opens, as well.

About ICRAVE

ICRAVE is a Manhattan-based design studio fueled by innovation and interaction. Since its inception in 2002, the name ICRAVE has become synonymous with creative energy-driven spaces that actively engage visitors in their environment. ICRAVE has established a high-profile client base in the hospitality and retail sectors and a reputation for delivering many of Manhattan's top nightclubs and restaurants including STK, Koi, Tenjune, One Little West 12th, Pangaea, Penthouse Executive Club and most recently - six restaurants within the new JetBlue terminal (“T5”) at JFK International Airport. Recently completed projects include Villa Lounge and Coco De Ville in Los Angeles, SUSHISAMBA Strip and Sugarcane lounge at the Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas and the W Atlanta – Midtown. The current project roster includes a 20,000 square-foot nightclub in Las Vegas’ high profile MGM Project CityCenter and a cutting-edge spa in Atlantic City. The ICRAVE Los Angeles office, established in 2008, is working on a nightclub and restaurant in the historic Fox Theater space on Hollywood Boulevard called Playhouse and Sweet Love Hangover, respectively. www.icravedesign.com.
