The Indy Spirits Expo will be held in San Francisco on November 19th 2009. This is the first time the event will be held in San Francisco; there has been an expo the last three years in New York. The Indy Spirits Expo is a grassroots-created event that features distillers, brand owners, importers and other key players in the independent sprits world. Consumers have the opportunity to taste an array of small batch, boutique, artisanal and just plain interesting spirits. They will also have the opportunity to interact with the individuals whose passion and commitment to quality bring these great spirits to the marketplace.
The Indy Spirits Expo started when three brand owners got together and realized they needed to find more ways to introduce their spirits to the public that was used to the status quo of corporate booze brands wherever they shopped and drank. The first event, with just the three initial brands, has grown to the point where there were over 30 exhibitors and over 40 different brands at the most recent event in New York City. Attendees were able to taste the spirits straight as well as mixed with cocktails that highlighted the particular spirits.
Among the brand at the New York event this year: Templeton Rye, LIV, Luna Sueno Tequila, Regatta Ginger Beer, Castries Peanut Rum Cream, Tuthilltown Whiskies, Port Charlotte Single Malt Whiskey, Orange V Vodka, Scorpion Mezcal, Machhu Pisco, 44 North Vodka, Renegade Rums, Octomore Scotch Whiskey, Loft Organic Liquers, American Fruits, Doublecross Vodka, Cold River Vodka, GVine Gin, Deaths Door Spirits, DIMMI Liquore di Milano, Averna Liquor, Suprema Grappa, Castarede Armagnac, Rhum J.M., Stranahans Whiskey, Core Vodka, Combier, Oval Vodka, Mata Hari Absinthe, Brinley Gold Rum, Russian Diamond Vodka, Tanteo Tequila, Vieux Carre Absinthe, Bluecoat Gin
Expect to see the same diversity and many of the same brands in San Francisco as well as some great small brands from the West Coast.
Hours for the event will be 6PM-9PM. From 5-6, the Expo will host the trade and press as well as VIP ticket holders. Tickets went on sale October 19; they can be purchased online at indyspiritsexpo.com.
The Venue for the event will be Mighty at 119 Utah Street in the emerging SOMISSPO district of San Francisco.
A portion of proceeds from previous events were donated to several NY charities, which is a tradition that will extend to the new event in San Francisco.
