The Las Vegas club scene sets the precedent for nightlife. Extravagant VIP areas and famous DJs are ingratiated in the Vegas blueprint. New York City, on the other hand, goes from posh to hipster just by taking a subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn. And with its “city that never sleeps” mentality, it, too, is a city on everyone’s radar. So it makes sense that these two great nightlife cities will come together, amalgamating their best attributes into one hot new club, Chaos.
PURE Management Group is partnering with Live Nation to bring the nightclub experience to the iconic Irving Plaza in New York City. The famous concert venue, which Live Nation leases, will turn into the hottest new dance club on Tuesdays and Saturdays, beginning May 18.
Ned Collett, CEO of PURE Management Group and former executive vice president of venue operations at Live Nation, says Irving Plaza, with all its history, has the right ambiance for this new club scene. “It’s been traditionally a concert venue,” Collett explains, “and with my new career path at PMG owning LAX [in the Luxor Las Vegas], PURE [in Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino], Christian Audigier [The Nightclub at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino], there seems to be an opportunity to utilize the venue that would complement what Live Nation does with concerts and deliver a product into the venue and into New York.”
Even on nights when a concert is booked, Irving Plaza will convert the two-floor space and its three full-service bars into Chaos after the concert ends with a few added accessories — some nightclub furniture, lighting and other amenities.
Although Irving Plaza can hold 1,000 patrons during a concert, Chaos will maintain a 500-person capacity, so there’s more space for everyone to move around and dance. VIP areas — “less than 10, it’s mostly a dance floor,” Collete reminds — table reservations, and bottle service will be available. The club is open to those over the age of 19 but management will adhere strictly to 21-and-over alcohol service laws.
Collett sees this venture as an opportunity to create the much-coveted Las Vegas atmosphere in the heart of New York City. “It’s delivering what we would say is our Las Vegas experience to the New York consumer,” he says. With the addition of DJ Devin Lucien to kick off the festivities, Chaos offers a fun yet different experience, with celebrity appearances and musical performances alongside an innovative nightlife and dance club experience.
“We want to deliver a wonderful experience in New York City. We want to deliver a wonderful experience to Live Nation,” Collett says. “There’s space for us to utilize this venue and create a really fun, energetic time.”
