The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is coming dangerously close to running out of liquor licenses for Utah bars.
At a Wednesday meeting the DABC will consider 14 applicants - two more than the number of licenses that were available following May's meeting.
Utah limits the number of licenses based on its population.
DABC spokeswoman Sharon Mackay says the exact number of licenses available won't be known until Wednesday.
Still, she says there should be enough for all 14 applicants because some existing bars won't renew their licenses.
The run on licenses comes as the state makes the most sweeping changes to its liquor laws in 40 years.
On July 1, patrons will no longer have to fill out an application and pay a fee for the right to enter a bar.
