The New NYC Standard

The Big Apple is all abuzz, and it’s not just surrounding the couture of fashion week. Instead it’s the opening of hotelier Andre Balazs’ new rooftop digs at his NYC outpost of The Standard that has the scenesters talking. Although the hotel opened earlier this year, the rooftop lounge that has become synonymous with other Standard properties is finally ready for an unveiling.

The 18th story venue offers two takes on The Standard rooftop scene, one more casual and one that’s more high-end nightlife chic. Named the Boom Boom Room, the space not only overlooks the towering skyscrapers of downtown Manhattan and the scenic park-in-the-sky the High Line, but it also has sections of fear-of-height-inducing glass floors that offer a view 18 stories down. The double high ceilings, ceiling-to-floor windows and 360-degree views had Big Apple blogger DBTH declare the venue “a game changer in the history of New York City nightlife.” It is also rumored that the chic club portion of the rooftop will possess a hot tub.
