Portland, Ore.’s Widmer Brothers Brewing introduces its 2010 Brewmasters’ Release: W’10 Pitch Black IPA, part of the W’ Series that introduces a new seasonal beer style every year. W’10, which won a gold medal at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, is brewed generous amounts of hops and a modest amount of specialty debittered black malt to create its dark appearance. It offers a peppery, citrusy hop aroma and flavor and has a medium body built on caramel malt sweetness and lightly toasted malt.
