Guinness 250 Anniversary Stout

In celebration of its 250th anniversary and in honor of its founder, Arthur Guinness, Guinness released a limited-edition brew: the Guinness 250 Anniversary Stout. As the company’s first new stout offering in the U.S. since 1966, the beer is carbonated rather than nitrogenated like the traditional Guinness Draught, has a near-white frothy head with larger bubbles and is poured in a one-part rather than two-part pour. With a crisp, effervescent taste and a balanced malty, roasted hop flavor, it was crafted and brewed in Ireland through a double brew stream process.

2007 Kenwood Vineyards Pinot Noir

Although there were fewer Russian River Valley Pinot Noir grapes in 2007 than normal, the wine they produced, including the 2007 Kenwood Vineyards Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, was better than expected. Because the vines bloomed during strong winds, they set a smaller crop. But the winds were the only difficulty in an otherwise stellar season, so the grapes developed sumptuous character and balance. Fresh red currant and cranberry aromas are accented by nutmeg and earth notes, while the smooth palate and balanced acidity combine for a long finish.
