SEVENS, a 6,250-square-foot sports lounge and entertainment venue at the Casino Queen in East St. Louis, Ill., opened its doors last week. The $2.15 million facility features high-definition flat screen televisions, a retractable projection screen and more than 30 items from the St. Louis Cardinals Museum Collection. The entry floor is made of glass mirror chips embedded with hockey pucks, murals feature oversize sports images and rows of baseball bats accent the walls of several VIP booths. The venue also has a 360-square-foot elevated stage near a dance floor to accommodate live musical entertainment. St. Louis-based KAI Design and Build and Legacy Building Group, LLC served as primary architect and contractor, respectively. www.casinoqueen.com.
Fairfax, Calif.’s 19 Broadway Nightclub nearly burned to the ground in February 2009, but over the Halloween weekend, the bar’s guests will celebrate its grand reopening as well as its 25th anniversary of offering live music. The venue, which has featured more than 60,000 musical acts over the years, offers a weekend of live music entertainment for its celebration: Friday, Oct. 30 brings in Wonder Bread 5; Saturday, Oct. 31 features Johnny Vegas and the High Rollers; and the weekend closes on Sunday, Nov. 1 with co-founder Garry Graham’s band The 19 Broadway Swing Band. www.19broadway.com.

Featuring 43 craft beer taps, southern-inspired barbecue food and “soul-saving” live music, Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids & Solids opened Monday in Longmont, Colo. Working with Eco Cycle, the restaurant has a zero-waste kitchen and it also offers gluten-free and vegetarian-inspired dishes along with staples like the Silo Burger from Dale Katechis’ Oskar Blues Cajun Grill in Lyons, Colo. Lucy’s 51, located in Toluca Lake, Calif., got a design and menu overhaul, taking its chic interior and quality dining to the next level. Owner/designer Richard DiSisto added a new front patio, a den-like lounge/smoking patio in the back, as well as vintage couches and long-stemmed modern stools, while chef Abel Duran revamped the lunch menu (served from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m.) to include “The Trio” — battered and fried Kalamata olives, mini pearl onions and pear tomatoes with garlic aioli dipping sauce — and expanded the dinner menu to offer items like Penne Shrimp Scampi and Filet Mignon Chateaubrian with Béarnaise Sauce. Strongbox bar and lounge has re-opened with minor yet effective adjustments, including state-of-the art technology and ultra-modern décor, to turn the bar into Philadelphia’s see-and-be-seen nightspot. Strongbox put a modern update on some of its historic architectural aspects, including refinished parquet floors with antique heat registers, cylindrical chandeliers to highlight the 20-foot ceilings and plum hues and steel chain embellishments in the bottle service lounge.
