Pure Revolution, a water-treatment-solution company, is conducting a national search to find the mixologist who understands the importance of water and ice in the perfect bar concoction. The final contest will be held at the National Restaurant Assn. Show, held in Chicago from May 16-19.
Finalists were selected from video and e-mail applications posted on YouTube and other social media sites. Each video had to include a description of the mixologist’s concoction and/or how pure ice or water is an important component of the drink. Pure Revolution says bad-tasting ice can ruin the taste of a drink, so the contest will commend the bar chef who shares an appreciation for the importance of pure ice and water.
Celebrity restaurateur and bar owner Gary Frey, owner of Las Vegas’s Tacos & Tequila at the Luxor and Rhumbar in the Mirage, selected three finalists. The finalists will travel to the NRA Show for the final mix-off and the winner will be chosen at the Pure Revolution show booth on May 16 at 4 p.m. Samples of the winning drink will be provided throughout the show.
In addition to fame through the NRA Show, the winner receives a round-trip visit to Las Vegas for the opportunity to appear as a guest mixologist at Rhumbar.
