It’s almost that time of year again: Memorial Day, graduation parties, Fourth of July, oh my! Every day becomes grounds for celebration when the weather gets warm, and summer is a great time to kick back and enjoy some casual libations. But how can you keep up your momentum during the cool nights? Guzzling a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage may not be as effective after many hours in the sun, and that extra cheeseburger hot off the grill isn’t the most bathing-suit-flattering way to line your stomach. Instead, why not take advantage of the divine summer fruits in season and treat yourself to cocktails that are delicious yet have a lower alcohol content? Berries and fresh juices are all the rage to line the bar and add delectable flavors to sweeten up cocktails. Try mixing with Averna Amaro, an Italian staple distilled from flowers, herbs, dried fruit, spices and licorice. The natural ingredients inside Averna make it a luscious addition to summertime cocktails, namely the orange zest that blend so well with summer flavors. And with an alcohol content of 32% (many other spirits like tequila and gin carry a number around 40%), cocktails mixed with Averna—in moderation—are a healthier alternative for your fun nights out (and a savor the next morning)!
Below please find some spectacular summer recipes that are simple to make and are perfect for sipping poolside!
