The USBG Spirits Professional Exam (100-question written exam) will be held during Tales of the Cocktail, Tuesday, July 20 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Royal Sonesta Hotel’s Belle Grove Suite.
Passing this test qualifies the candidate as a USBG Spirits Professional, ensuring employers and colleagues he or she is knowledgeable and well-versed in all spirit categories as well as sake, beer, wine, service, history of cocktails, mixology and much more.
Test Fee: The level 1 test is free for USBG members only for the first time it is taken; any subsequent tests are $50 for USBG members, Non-members must pay $175. Please RSVP to usbg_events@hotmail.com to reserve your seat.
The USBG Advanced Bartender Exam (both written and practical exams) will be held Tuesday, July 20 between 1 and 5 p.m. at the Royal Sonesta Hotel’s Belle Grove Suite. Passing both the written and practical advanced tests ensures the candidate has a working knowledge of the craft of bartending, an advanced level of product knowledge on all spirit categories as well as sake, beer, wine and cigars, and that he or she has a strong understanding of the beverage industry overall, including a clear comprehension of important aspects of management and running a successful bar program. Each candidate must pass a rigorous practical evaluation testing his or her professionalism behind the bar and prove a working knowledge of cocktails and mixology. Upon passing, the candidate may add the acronym AB after his or her name to signify he or she is a USBG Advanced Bartender and will be pinned as such.
