Wily Jack

Recently launched by Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines are three varietals of Wily Jack: a 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008 Chardonnay and 2007 Zinfandel. Each features a unique label with strong visuals displaying Wily Jack, the fictitious character behind the brand. The Chardonnay opens with tropical fruits on the nose and lemon zest and vanilla on the palate, while the Cabernet has dark fruits on the nose and mouth and the Zinfandel offers cinnamon, nutmeg, plum and blackberry flavors.

Yellow+Blue Sauvignon Blanc

Wine importer J. Soif Inc. has unveiled a new varietal in its range of Yellow+Blue certified organic wines, the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc from Central Valley, Chile. It is made from 100 percent organic Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel at a low temperature. Yellow+Blue also revealed a new look for its brand, with vertical text as well as tasting notes, color aromas and other facts on its eco-friendly Tetra Pak packaging.

2007 Matchless Red Wine

Walla Walla, Wash.’s Otis Kenyon Wine presents its 2007 Matchless Red Wine, a 70 percent Merlot and 30 percent Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Nearly 800 cases were produced. The blend starts with light cedar notes, black pepper and Bing cherry on the nose; in the mouth, dark fruit components brighten to raspberry and rhubarb pie. The wine label has “singed” edges, alluding to a fire crime that separated the Kenyon family; they were reunited some 50 years later.
