The 2011 Shake It Up! Competition, presented by Nightclub & Bar and Southern Wine & Spirits, took place this week at the 2011 Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show. After a series of rounds, five finalists came out on top and using secret ingredient Lindemans Lambic Beer they fought to be known as the top mixologist. Mathias Simonis from Distil in Milwaukee won first prize of $15,000 with his winning recipe, Last Second Sour. Here’s what the all five finalists concocted in the final round of the 2011 Shake It Up! Competition.
Last Second Sour – First Place

1 ½ ounces Bernheim Wheat Whiskey
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
¾ ounce Fee Brothers Falernum Syrup
4 drops Fee Brothers Cranberry Cocktail Bitters
Egg White
Lindemans Framboise Lambic Float
Dry shake all ingredients except Lindemans Framboise Lambic. Re-shake with ice, strain into a pilsner glass over fresh ice. Float with Lindemans Framboise Lambic. Garnish with a lemon peel.
De Peché Mode – 2nd Place

1½ ounces Tanqueray No. 10
½ ounce Marie Brizard Apry
½ ounce clover honey
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
Fresh ginger
Lindemans Peché Lambic Float
Muddle ginger, add ingredients, shake and fine strain over ice. Top with Lindemans Peché Lambic.
Raz-Berry Surprise – 3rd Place

1½ ounces St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
1 ounce Ultimat Vodka
1 ounce Mathilde Framboise
Splash of Fee Brothers Peach Bitters
Lindemans Framboise Lambic
Combine all ingredients except Lindemans Framboise Lambic, pour over ice and stir with beer.
The Monks Share – 4th Place

1½ ounces Plymouth Gin
1½ ounces St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
1 ounce Chartreuse Green
1 ounce fresh sour
3 ounces Lindemans Pomme Lambic
Combine all ingredients except Lindemans Pomme Lambic. Shake, pour over ice and stir with beer.
The Amar – 5th Place

1 ½ ounces Old Raj Gin
½ ounce Aperol
1 ounce Serrano Sour
8 raspberries
Shake of Fee Bros. Rhubarb Bitters
Lindemans Pomme Lambic
Muddle raspberries with sour, combine remaining ingredients except Lindemans Pomme Lambic, pour over ice and stir with beer. Garnish with blood orange peel.
