Cider Summit Chicago Pre-Party & Tap Takeover at Macas Wood Grilled

Featuring eight artisan ciders, including Illinois-made Right Bee Cider


CHICAGO, IL - The Wicker Park bar provides cider enthusiasts with an opportunity to try eight limited-release and year-round artisan ciders in advance of the fourth annual Cider Summit Chicago, the region’s largest cider tasting showcasing 140 American and international ciders. The 2016 Cider Summit will take place on Saturday, February 27 in the Grand Ballroom at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

The Mac’s Wood Grilled Cider Summit Chicago Pre-Party kicks off at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 26 and features limited-release American ciders such as Bantam Cider Rojo, Boonville Cider House Bite Hard, E.Z. Orchards Hawk Haus, Finnriver Cidery Sparkling Pear Cider, Sonoma Cider Barrel-Aged Dry Fuji Reserve and Citizen Cider Cidre Bourgeois. Year-round artisan ciders include Aspall Peronelle’s Blush Cider and Right Bee Unfiltered Dry Cider.

There is no cover charge to attend the Mac’s Wood Grilled Cider Summit Chicago Pre-Party and ciders range from $6-$8 each. Mac’s is open from 4 p.m.-2 a.m. on February 26 and the kitchen is open until 11 p.m. For additional information on Cider Summit Chicago, click here.

MAC'S WOOD GRILLED CIDER SUMMIT PRE-PARTY CIDERS

Right Bee Cider, Lincolnwood, Illinois, Unfiltered Dry Cider, 5.7% ABV

Made by the husband-and-wife team of Katie Morgan and Charlie Davis. This all-natural cider is made with apples, organic fair trade unrefined cane sugar and local honey. Complex apple flavors; tart, crisp, dry and refreshing.

Bantam Cider Company, Somerville, Massachusetts, Rojo, Limited Release, 5.4% ABV

Semi-dry unfiltered cider made from local heirloom and traditional New England apples. Fermented with a hearty ale yeast and aged with sour cherries and black peppercorns. Fruity and spicy aromas; slightly sour mid-palate with a dry finish and subtle cherry notes.

Boonville Cider House, Boonville, California, Bite Hard, Limited Release, 6.9% ABV

Crisp, semi-dry cider, slow-fermented from heirloom apples in the English tradition. Made from tannic and full-bodied fruit; this cider has a distinctive bite with a clean and unique apple finish and citrus notes.

E.Z. Orchards, Salem, Oregon, Hawk Haus, Limited Release, 6.6% ABV

This is a pre-prohibition style cider made with a blend of Jonathan and Yarlington Mill apples. Aromas of fresh cut apples and an earthy farmyard character; big, soft and round on the palate with gentle acidity and notes of cinnamon and brown sugar.

Finnriver Cidery, Chimacum, Washington, Sparkling Pear Cider, Limited Release, 6.5% ABV

Bright, semi-sweet cider made from heirloom and organic dessert apples and organic pears.

Citizen Cider, Burlington, Vermont, Cidre Bourgeois, 6.2% ABV

Made with organic fruit from Pearson Road Farms (New Haven, Vermont); pressed at Happy Valley Orchard in Middlebury Vermont. Delicate and dry with complex floral notes.

Sonoma Cider, Healdsburg, California, Barrel-Aged Dry Fuji Reserve, Limited Cider Maker Reserve Series, 6.5% ABV

Made with hand-picked certified organic Fuji apples from Washington State’s Yakima Valley. Bold yet delicate in flavor; tart and dry with a hint of sweetness. Distinctively dry with notes of vanilla and smoke from the French oak barrel ageing.

Aspall, Debenham, Suffolk, Great Britain, Peronelle’s Blush Cider, Year-Round, 4% ABV

Semi-sweet cider brewed by eighth generation cider makers Barry and Henry Chevallier Guild. Made with Bittersweet, Culinary and Dessert apples; blended with a touch of blackberries from the Aspall orchard. Flavors of apple and blackberry with a good acid balance and a long soft fruit finish.
