What keeps you up at night?
Very little, these days. After years of exhaustion that led to burnout, I learned that doing my best work during the day — and protecting my sleep — is the only way I can function at a high level. Recovery isn’t a luxury in this industry; it’s survival.
What’s a risk you took that paid off?
Going all-in on hospitality when a lot of people told me it was nearly impossible to make good money or be a good father at the same time. I’ve played almost every role in this business, it’s treated me well, and I wouldn’t change the path for anything.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Take action. Live your life.” — my early mentor, John Pillon. He told me he could fail and try again three times before most people even find the courage to take one shot. I’ve tried to live by that ever since and not let fear paralyze me.
What’s currently on your playlist?
As scattered as my brain some days — country, hip-hop, classic rock, even Broadway show tunes. The bar business teaches you to appreciate a little bit of everything.
What are you currently reading?
I find myself going back to the classics. Right now I’m revisiting What Got You Here Won’t Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith — a reminder that growth at the next level usually requires letting go of old habits that once made you successful.
